Katmai Park
7-Day Bear Viewing
Adventure

Having appeared in magazines and films around the world, Katmai's brown bears are renowned Alaskan icons. The world's largest run of sockeye salmon up the Naknek River creates an ideal feast for brown bears - attracting more than 2,000 of the bruins to the lands of Katmai National Park and Preserve. This is one of the world's premier brown bear viewing trips.
Alaska Adventure Travel

Denali National Park adventure vacation that includes round trip transportation from Anchorage, 2 nights lodging, rafting, dog mushing tour, flight seeing. The lodging includes an overnight at the entrance to Denali Park and one night at an exclusive Lodge in Kantishna, 95 miles within the Park borders at the very end of the restricted Denali Park Road. And you end your trip with a ride on the Alaska Railroad back to Anchorage.

Mount McKinley, Wonder LakeMost Denali Park visitors stay at the entrance to the Park and take a tour bus down the Denali Park Road, which is restricted to private vehicles. At the Park entrance there are no views of Mt. McKinley or the geology and wildlife that make Denali so special. So your Denali vacation experience is, to a great extent, determined by how you spend tie along the Denali Park Road. Most tours go only partway down the road, then turn around and overnight at the crowded entrance area. This trip is different from most Denali trips in two very important ways. First, every trip to the lodge is a narrated wildlife drive to the very end of the Denali Park Road, so you go twice as far into the Park as most tours. Second, you stay 95 miles inside the Park borders, surrounded by miles of wilderness, not thousands of tourists.

This trip is designed to match up with the 4-Day Aialik Bay Sea Kayaking trip, for a complete Alaska vacation where you are immersed in true protected wilderness in marine ecosystem and sub-arctic ecosystem. This trip gives you great opportunities to view marine wildlife such as whales, seals, sea lions and marine birds, and large land mammals such as bears, moose, caribou and sheep

TRIP INCLUDES — dinner at the lodge on day 2 and breakfast day 3 other meals are not included. There are a number of restaurant at the park entrance to choose from and on the train there is a dinning car.

ITINERARY
Arrival/Introduction
— A Backcountry Safaris host will meet you at the Anchorage International Airport to pick you up and to drop you off at your hotel.

Day 1 — Depart Anchorage at 7:00 a.m. for the scenic bus ride to Denali Park. We'll stop at scenic location along the way for photos. We arrive at Denali around 1:00 p.m., check into hotel, then for some afternoon excitement you'll go for a raft ride, either a whitewater or scenic trip your choice. After dinner you can go on for an evening stroll or go shopping at the park entrance.

Day 2 — Eat breakfast and then tour Jeff King's (three-time Iditarod champion) dog mushing kennel. Meet champion sled dogs, visit with the puppies and see summer training in action, see the arctic survival gear, dog sleds and racing gear. Learn about Jeff's state of the art dog training program. Eat an early lunch.

Bear, Denali ParkAt noon meet for the Denali Wildlife drive all the way to the very end of the restricted Denali Park Road. This 6-hour drive on the lodge's private bus is your best opportunity to see Denali's famed wildlife, including grizzly bears, moose, sheep and caribou. Your guide will narrate the drive with detailed behavior of different animals, natural history and geology of the park, and recount adventures of early explorers. We stop for photo opportunities when Mother Nature presents them. We will also stop at rest areas for refreshments (Snacks and beverage included) and to enjoy the sweeping vistas. After arriving at the lodge in the old gold mining district of Kantishna enjoy a family style dinner (included) and an evening shuttle to Wonder Lake and, weather permitting view of Mt. McKinley towering above all.

Day 3 — Eat a early breakfast (included). Then a short shuttle to Kantishna air strip for a spectacular Mt. McKinley flight seeing adventure and a drop off at the Denali train depot to catch the train back to Anchorage. Dining car is available for meals on the train (not included)
