7-Day Bear Viewing
Adventure Having appeared in magazines and films around the
world, Katmai's brown bears are renowned Alaskan icons. The world's largest
run of sockeye salmon up the Naknek River creates an ideal feast for brown
bears - attracting more than 2,000 of the bruins to the lands of Katmai
National Park and Preserve. This is one of the world's premier brown bear
viewing trips.
Arctic National Wildlife Refuge (ANWR) Adventures
Join us on our Arctic National Wildlife Refuge ANWR adventures. We travel 50 miles down the "River of Caribou," the Kongakut, through America's last true frontier. Our ANWR adventures coincide with the annual migration of the Porcupine caribou herd and pass through some of the world's most pristine wilderness.
The 19.8-million-acre Arctic National Wildlife Refuge comprises arctic and subarctic ecosystems and is unique in North America. The Arctic Refuge is largely free from human manipulation and control and has remained undisturbed for centuries.
Visitors on our ANWR adventures will find many opportunities to view and photograph a diverse display of plant and animal life within the Arctic Refuge. Golden eagles, tundra swans, loons, brown bears, caribou, muskoxen, wolves, lynx, arctic char and grayling are some of the many animals that one may see on our ANWR adventures.
Our ANWR adventures begin in a valley of the Brooks Range and descend down the glacial Kongakut River through rapids and braided channels. We traverse the tundra-covered Arctic Coastal Plain during its spectacular seasonal splendor while daylight lingers 24 hours a day. Our ANWR adventures conclude as we travel within view of the Beaufort Sea's pack ice.
